Figure Review with John Cross who examines Lamming Miniatures

A series of figures not too well known in the south of 'the country, although quite popular in the northern areas, I was first introduced to these figures about two years ago, and they have improved steadily ever since.

The range of 20/25 mm. figures for War Games is quite large and embraces the main combatants of the Waterloo campaign. British, French and Prussian, both foot and mounted are represented. They are nice, clean, clearly detailed castings of good quality. Horses in particular are quite nicely done, and the old complaint of the 'short back' of horses in this scale seems to have been overcome. I was most impressed with the standard of painting displayed on these war game figures. Painted in gloss enamels they were very neatly done, particularly the Highlanders. I do not know whether this is stock painting, but if so, the standard is quite high. Unfortunately no price was quoted for the painted figures.

The unpainted foot figures come in boxes at 33p (6/8d.) for five figures. Gun crews (5) at the same price. Officers are obtainable singly at 7p (1/4d.) each. Cavalry are boxed in two's at 35p (7/-) per box.

Artillery pieces are also obtainable and these include Gribeauval 8 and 12 pounders, 6 in. Howitzer and limbers for same. British guns include a 9 and 12 pounder, plus limbers, and a 24 pounder Siege or Naval Casemate Cannon. Cannons and Limbers are boxed in pairs (either cannon with limber, two cannons or two limbers, as desired). These are priced at 45p (9/-)'per box. The 24 pounder Siege gun is priced at 121p (2/6d.). All of the artillery pieces are very sturdy and well detailed.

Lamming Miniatures obtainable from Northern Garrison, 11a Castlegate, Knaresborough, York, HG5 8AR.
